About the Book:
Four hundred years ago, a ship landed on the shores of New England bearing a fledgling band of people, committed to living life by the principles of God’s Word. This people eventually formed a nation conceived in liberty and blessed by God.

Now four hundred years later, their vision has almost faded. Liberty is dying. Humanism dominates. The family, by all indices, has disintegrated. But there still beats within the hearts of a remnant in this nation, the principles of the First Mayflower. In this 300 page manifesto, author Kevin Swanson lays out a vision by which the values of faith, family, and freedom may be salvaged for at least one nation for future generations. The voyage of the Second Mayflower is just beginning.

Family Economics Conference 2012

As many of my readers know, I left my corporate job last year to pursue my dream of running Cross Focused Media full time. It’s been nearly four months since I took the plunge and I’m learning that being in business for yourself is a bit of an adjustment after 12+ years in corporate life. I’m looking forward to a weekend of learning, encouragement, and fellowship at the 2012 Family Economics Conference.

Hazardous Journeys Society

Doug Phillips recently announced the new Hazardous Journeys Society website, which can be found at hazardousjourneys.org. This latest project from Vision Forum Ministries promises engaging opportunities for both explorers & subscribers. My family and I subscribed to the Into the Amazon expedition last year and it was an enjoyable experience for the whole family. We’re excited to join the Hazardous Journeys Society on their future adventures, even if it is from the relative safety of our own living room.

I am excited about the principles of the Hazardous Journeys Society, which are principles that should be a part of our lives as Christian men and should definitely be values that we’re working to instill into our children, especially our boys and young men. The principles of the Hazardous Journeys Society are:

Dominion – To explore and declare the glory of God in creation.

Dominion from Hazardous Journeys on Vimeo.

Risk – The proving of leadership through adversity.

Manhood – Maturity and courage comes to those who seek it.

Book Review – The Gospel Story Bible: Discovering Jesus in the Old and New Testaments by Marty Machowski

By Shaun Tabatt · Comments (0)
Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Book Details:
Author:  Marty Machowski
Publisher:  New Growth Press (2011)
Binding:  Hardcover
Page count:  328
ISBN:  978-1936768127

Recommendation:
Review Date:  1/23/2012 by Shaun Tabatt
Rating:  Highly Recommended

Review:
The Gospel Story Bible is the latest addition to the Gospel Story for Kids series by Marty Machowski. Filled with 156 stories spanning from Genesis to Revelation, The Gospel Story Bible strives to bring the Bible to life in a manner that is thoroughly engaging, seeking to develop within our children a deep love for God’s word. It is worth noting that The Gospel Story Bible aligns with the Scripture passages found in the Gospel Story children’s ministry curriculum, allowing parents to reinforce at home, what their children are learning in the classroom each Sunday.

Each story is two pages in length, featuring a Bible story reading,  a great illustration from A. E. Macha, and three discussion questions in the “Let’s Talk About It!” section. My family and I have been working through The Gospel Story Bible during mealtime with our children ranging in age from two years all the way up age thirteen. Every time we read a story, each of the children make sure they each get to look the illustration over carefully and from the youngest to oldest, they all participate in the discussion questions. We have been quite pleased with the level of theological discussion that comes about each and every time we bring out The Gospel Story Bible. In my opinion, it is one of the best children’s story Bibles we have in our home.  I recommend it very highly as a way to get Bible stories into your children, helping them to understand how the thread of the gospel is woven through God’s all the way from Genesis to Revelation.

Free Today at Blue Behemoth – Creative Models for Raising Capital without Debt Bondage From The Best of the 2006 Entrepreneurial Bootcamp

By Shaun Tabatt · Comments (0)
Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Free Today at Blue Behemoth – Creative Models for Raising Capital without Debt Bondage From The Best of the 2006 Entrepreneurial Bootcamp. This series was instrumental in encouraging me to step out in faith to launch my own business.  Lots of Godly wisdom and practical advice to be found here.

Twenty Messages Explaining a Real-World Vision for Biblically-Principled Entrepreneurship and Families Working Together

Christian entrepreneurship is purposeful. It involves the calling of men to live fruitful, productive, creative, problem-solving, dominion-oriented, kingdom-advancing, Lordship-loving lives. This is manifest as men advance their roles as fathers, reformers, leaders, servants, masters, and visionaries.

Not all men will start independent businesses, but all Christians (both masters and servants, parents and children) should be entrepreneurially oriented as to their management, investment, and creative use of assets and resources.

Draw from the collective wisdom of highly-effective Christian entrepreneurs and family men who share a lifetime of wisdom, illustrating both successes and failures, for a victorious vision of economic and spiritual fruitfulness. Learn how Christian entrepreneurship can and must emphasize multi-generational faithfulness, inheritance, jurisdiction, and the household as an economically productive, God-ordained unit for cultural transformation.
